What Are the Best Things to Do in Antigua Guatemala?
Having visited Antigua every year since I was a child, I have witnessed first-hand the growth of tourism in the area.
The town has expanded significantly, with various new celebrations occurring throughout the year, including the Festival of the Flowers and the famous Holy Week celebrations during Easter.
This time of year is hectic and crowded but also exciting and enjoyable. While in Antigua, I highly recommend visiting Pollo Campero, Guatemala’s renowned fast-food chicken chain!
You should also try some delicious local delicacies, such as Shukos, and don’t forget to sample Gallo, Guatemala’s most famous beer!
And if you’re a coffee drinker, Guatemala coffee is unique because it’s harvested in volcanic sand, so it’s a little on the solid and bitter side, but nothing a little bit of sugar can’t help!
Also, a PSA: every time I fly home from Guatemala, I take at least 40 pieces of Pollo Campero on the plane with me, just in case you want to bring home some Guatemalan fried chicken.
